A new update is due to arrive before the end of February 2024 with three new cars for Gran Turismo 7 this week. And in a slight break from tradition, they’ve been teased in a short video which makes it a bit easier to identify the trio.

If Polyphony Digital follow their usual schedule, the update should arrive on Thursday, February 29th, which is one way to celebrate the leap year.

At the top is the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX, as revealed by the number plate visible in the video. It joins the existing cars in the game (the Evo III, IV, V, VI and X) by adding the ninth model, which was produced between 2005 and 2007.

The 2.0 litre engine gets MIVEC variable valve timing and an improved turbocharger to put out 287hp and 389 lbft of torque as standard, but there were various versions released in Japan, America and the UK with differences including the power, five or six speed gearbox, and a Ralliart-turned limited edition.

Bottom left is the Renault 4, which was available from 1961 until 1994 with engines ranging from 603cc to 1108cc, and either a three or four speed manual gearbox. More than 8 million were built, and it appears Gran Turismo 7 will be getting the common five door hatchback model.

And at the bottom right it appears to be the Audi TT Mk 2, which was manufactured between 2006 and 2014, with options including the 2.0 TDI quattro, TTS and the TT RS which offered a 2.5 litre turbo putting out 335bhp, short-shift close-ratio six speed gearbox, four wheel drive, and a fixed rear spoiler for a derestricted top speed of 174mph, along with the TT RS plus which gets 335hp and an electronically limited top speed of 174mph.

Update 01/03/2024: With the release of Update 1.43, we now know the cars are the Audi TTS Coupe ’09, Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX MR GSR ’06 and Renault R4 GTL ’85
