If you use manual gears and have been experiencing issues recently, then hopefully they’ll be fixed with the latest Forza Horizon 5 May 2023 Hotfix released for Xbox and PC racers.
The last major update arrived on April 25th to add new cars and an oval circuit for the High Performance playlist series. There are no details on exactly what the issue was with manual gears, but I’ve certainly noticed a problem when trying to move from first to second gear at the start of races. For some reason, it’s been impossible to shift up quickly, which is infuriating when it means losing places every single time as the AI can pull away without any issues.
Every gear change seems fine after the first couple of seconds, and works perfectly for me during the rest of each race. That’s on the PC version, using manual gears without clutch (I like to chill out with Horizon, rather than taking it ultra-seriously!)
The small update also fixes an issue with leaderboards not showing the right results in Horizon Open, and changing Intel XeSS settings causing the PC version of the game to crash. Although it’s Forza Horizon 4 I’ve always had game crash issues with, rather than the latest title.
