If you’ve found the distance between your ClubSport wheelbase and your steering wheel has hampered your sim racing or sim rig set-up, help is at hand with the new Fanatec ClubSport DD Shaft Extension.
It promises to extend your length by 160mm without the need for a manual cable connection, so you can optimise your field of view as much as possible. Including mounting monitors in front of the wheel base, if you’re trying for a ‘mixed reality’ setup. When it comes to girth, Fanatec have made the extension as thin as possible to avoid interfering with your view.
Obviously, you don’t want the extension shaft interfering with the durability and feedback of your sim racing setup. So it’s made from CNC-machined aluminium with a black anodised finish to ensure it’s stiff, and the connection between the wheelbase and quick release set-up is claimed to be reliable, with no loss of force feedback details.
It’s compatible with the Fanatec ClubSport DD and ClubSport DD+ wheelbases, with a QR2 Type F mounting point required for the base side. And it should work with any steering wheel which is compatible with the ClubSport DD and DD+.
The ClubSport DD wheelbases were launched to order at the end of 2023, as the first to use the new QR2 quick release system. The DD offers 12Nm of torque and costs €799.95, while the DD+ is rated at 15Nm and costs €999.95.
The only downside is the additional cost, with the new Fanatec ClubSport DD Shaft Extension priced at €99.95. It’s available directly from the Fanatec website and comes with the nine bolts needed to keep it in place, along with an Allen key to fit them.
