Four New Cars Teased For GRID Legends

It’s been a while since the last update was released, but there have now been four new cars teased for GRID Legends, suggesting DLC or free content will be arriving soon from Codemasters and EA.

The most recent news was that the racing game was joining EA Play, and there hasn’t been a lot of DLC released to date, with only the Seneca and Ravenwest Double Pack adding four cars, and the Valentin’s Classic Car-Nage bringing five vehicles, alongside the free Team Fordzilla P1. So any additions will definitely be welcome. Especially as one is a particularly unusual car to appear in virtual form.

Looking at the images shared by the GRID social media account, it seems the four new cars teased for GRID Legends are:

  • The Autozam AZ-1
  • The Bentley Continental GT3
  • The 2003 Bentley Speed 8
  • The BMW V12 LMR

The Autozam AZ-1

While it might look like a Nissan GTR R32 Skyline due to the round tail lights and big rear wing, both the R32 and R34 are currently available in the GRID Legends car list. So it wouldn’t be a particularly exciting move to bring another version into the game.

But we do know that a couple of years ago, specialist car company JM Imports revealed they took a Mazda Autozam AZ-1 to Blyton Park Race Circuit to be recorded by Codemasters for ‘an upcoming game’.

And that would be fun, as a mid-engined kei-class sports car with a 657cc turbocharged engine and gullwing doors (later also produced by Suzuki as the Cara). The capacity and 63hp power were limited under the small ‘kei car’ rules, but Mazdaspeed did produce an A-Spec version with a bonnet scoop, front spoilter and rear wing, plus performance options including sports suspension, strut bars, a limited slip diff, air filter and new exhaust.

The Bentley Continental GT3

A more well-known car, particularly given with the popularity of the GT3 class in sim racing, is the Bentley Continental GT3, which would have existing rivals including the BMW M6, Ginetta G55, and Porsche 911.

The current generation was unveiled at the start of the 2018 season with four litre firect injection twin turbo V8 putting out 550bhp. And used aluminium for most of the structure to come in at under 1300kg with a more even weight distribution, taking it to 126 podiums and 50 wins around the world so far.

The 2003 Bentley Speed 8

The British marque returned to Le Mans in 2001 after a 68 year gap with the EXP Speed 8. But we know this will be the 2003 Speed 8 model, because that was the year that a Bentley started from pole position, before the pair of cars took a win and second place, and the motorsport project tailed off.

With Bentley owned by the Volkswagen Group, the engine was a 4.0 litre V8 originally sourced from Audi and modified to put out around 600 horsepower.

A handful of cars from the iconic German brand are already featured in the game. So why not add an open top racer which won the only overall Le Mans 24 Hour victory for the company, in the shape of the BMW V12 LMR.

Built in partnership with Williams F1, it replaced the V12 LM in 1999, keeping the same six litre engine and 590 bhp, but with new bodywork featuring some new innovations. Most notably, a small roll hoop was used behind the driver, rather than across the entire cockpit. It took the win in 1999, with a top speed of 214mph on the Mulsanne Straight.

It’s likely that the new cars will be part of a DLC pack, and the existing ones are currently priced at £6.99 or £8.99. But you can keep up with the latest GRID Legends news, updates and DLC, here. Or take a look at the full GRID Legends car list for every vehicle included in the game.

GRID Legends (and Need for Speed Heat) will be available free as part of Amazon Prime Day 2022. Alternatively, GRID Legends is available for the PC via Steam, the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S via the Xbox Store, and the PS4 or PS5 via the PlayStation Store.
