DRIFTCE Toyota Chaser JZX100 DLC Released

March 17, 2024 By Dan Thornton Leave a Comment

Following on from the Supra Mk4, the second in a trio of paid cars arrives with the DRIFTCE Toyota Chaser JZX100 DLC released.

The sixth generation of the mid-size saloon produced for the Japanese market, the X100 series was introduced in 1996 and stopped production in 2001, with engine options including the 2.5 litre or 3.0 litre 1JZ-GE, and the 2.5 litre 1JZ-GTE Turbo among the choices. Compared to the previous X90, the power output stayed the same as it already reached a voluntary limit set by Japanese car manufacturers, but the VVTi variable valve timing added a lot more torque.

With a front-mounted engine, rear wheel drive, and comparatively inexpensive for many years, the Chaser has become a popular choice for drifters using both the X90 and X100 versions to go sideways. And it’s also reliable enough to serve as a daily driver between track sessions.

And while it made 276 horsepower as standard, there were lots of opportunities for tuning, especially with the 3.0 litre version, and using the same engines as the Supra means a lot more power can be made available. And while they came with an automatic gearbox, you had electronic control type (ECT) providing what would now be termed a four gear sport mode. It’s basically a four door Supra, but slightly cheaper to buy.

The third of the Toyota DLC trio will be the Supra Mk5, also due to be released for DriftCE in the near future.

You can buy Drift CE (formerly Drift21) for the PC via Steam, the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S via the Microsoft Store, or the PS4 and PS5 via the PlayStation Store.
