Get Dakar Desert Rally For Free On The Epic Games Store

If you want to pick up the Saber Porto title for nothing, you’ll be able to get Dakar Desert Rally for free on the Epic Games Store between February 15 and 22, 2024.

Obviously the deal is for the PC version of the rally racing game, but it’s a good offer considering the base version currently costs £24.99 across all platforms. You can also download the free SnowRunners Cars Pack DLC, adding five more vehicles along with with extra events.

Which should give the player numbers a nice boost, especially following the recent release of the Dakar Desert Rally USA Tour DLC. Following that new content, it was announced that the game would only receive quality of life updates, with no more new content or features being developed. And with the Epic Games Store promotion probably in mind, there’s been an update released to improve stability on the PC.

Dakar Desert Rally PC Hotfix Release Notes:

• Resolved an issue that was contributing to a gradual escalation in the frequency of crashes, ensuring a more stable and reliable performance. 
• Adjusted the bike’s engine sound during the race

Dakar Desert Rally was released in October 2022, as the second attempt by Saber Porto (formerly Big Moon Studios who developed Dakar 18) to build an ongoing franchise around the most famous rally race in the world. Along with paid DLC, free updates added new features, including a free roam mode.

It’s probably unlikely a new Dakar title is in development, as you’d expect that to be announced at the same time as it was revealed content and features are no longer being worked on for Dakar Desert Rally. That may be a temporary pause while the parent Embracer group restructures and publishers Saber Interactive focus on the launch of Expeditions: A MudRunner Game in March 2024. Or it might mean that for whatever reason, Dakar-based games don’t reach a big enough audience at the moment, which would be a shame.
