It’s easy to underestimate the important of a good seat for sim racing until you either launch yourself across the room under braking, or get up from a long driving session full of aches and pains. And there’s a fresh choice available with the new Next Level Racing ERS3 Elite Recling Seat launched for £229.
The ERS3 features both double seat recliners and seat slider, which means you can quickly and easily adjust it to relax between endurance stints, accomodate different drivers, or just get out of your sim rig more easily if it’s in a cramped space.
All things which appeal to me as an older sim racer, when middle age sadly means you can injure yourself just by sitting or standing.
It’s got an open design, so will suit any sim racing or driving experience, and it’s claimed to be ergonomic with excellent lumbar support. So it should be comfortable for any size or shape of racer, with softer cold moulded foam under the premium PU leather upholstery. And could be the perfect choice if you’re endurace racing or tend to spend long periods of time driving in single sessions.
It supports heights of 120 to 210cm, or 3’9″ to 6’9″ which should cover most people, with a max weight of 150kg or 331lbs. In terms of size it’s 62cm long, 48cm wide and 92cm high. And it’s obviously compatible with the range of Next Level Racing Elite, GTtrack, GTRacer, GTSeat and F-GT cockpits and frames.
And it’s actually cheaper than the existing ERS2 Elite Seat, which has more of a hardcore motorsport design at £299.
Good sim racing seats aren’t cheap, but they’re a worthwhile investment if you’re spending plenty of time behind the wheel, increasing immersion, comfort and stability. And as the lowest-priced option from Next Level Racing, it’s an obvious choice if you’re looking at one of their cockpit range.
