Sabelt Reveal A New Range Of Sim Racing Products

August 15, 2023 By Dan Thornton Leave a Comment

The virtual and real world continue to blur as Italian company Sabelt reveal a new range of sim racing products. Founded in 1972, the firm designs and manufactures seats, belts, and more for cars and motorsport. And they’ve now launched Sabelt Sim Racing to provide a range of equipment, with the initial range including three rigs and seats, along with a new wheel.

As original equipment suppliers, they provide road and racing seats and other equipment to manufacturers including Ferrari, McLaren, Alpine, Abarth, Alfa Romeo, Jaguar, Maserati and Aston Martin, along with military, aviation and aerospace copanies.

The rigs and seats are split into three categories. The P Series is focused on Formula cockpits, seats and accessories, with the Sabelt P99 formula cockpit and the Sabelt SRP-1 seat. The rig features a proprietary design for the anodised matt grey aluminium profile, with 10mm sides and back plates. While the seat features a reinforced fibreglass shell.

Then there’s the Sabelt S Series aimed at GT racers, with the S99 rig and SRS-1 seat, which gets more generous dimensions and padding to help with the typically longer length of races.

And finally, there’s the X Series for road driving and racing, with the Sabelt X99 cockpit and the SRX-1 sim racing seat, developed from the Spine model offered by the company for racing, featuring a vertical backrest.

While the new cockpits definitely look interesting, perhaps the most exciting product revealed so far is the new SW1-R sim racing wheel, which is the first designed by the company for virtual motorsport. It’s a 4-spoke and 295mm diameter wheel with a sandblasted and anodised aluminium plate. And along with the visible button layout are two knurled aluminium rotary controls.

And as you might expect, Sabelt have also announced a range of 4-point belts with quick release aluminium buckles developed for sim racing. Which are not only more immersive, but also necessary for safety if you’re lucky enough to have a high-end motion set-up.

The new website dedicated to the sim racing range also mentions ‘gloves and more’, so we can probably expect additional product launches in the near future. Especially with the company attending the 2023 Sim Racing Expo, which will take place in Dortmund in October.

There’s no information so far regarding prices and when the Sabelt sim racing range will be available to purchase. But we’d imagine it’ll all be revealed pretty soon.

Aside from potentially buying directly from the company, we’d imagine the existing UK retailers offering Sabelt products alongside sim racing equipment will probably be stocking the new range (for example, Demon Tweeks).

In the meantime, you can check out all of our coverage of sim racing wheels and pedals, here. Or sim racing rigs and seats, here. And you can find something suitable for every budget and style of racing.
