While the big news is that Embracer Group will split into three separate companies, there are still changes being made at lower levels of the business, with Umberto Bettini appointed General Manager at Milestone.
Formerly the Country Manager of Plaion Italy, the 53-year-old has been with the company since 2011, and will report directly to CEO Luisa Bizio, oversearing all aspects of operations at the developer, including game development, publishing and business strategy.
So while it might not grab the headlines like the move of a CEO or studio head, it could be an important and interesting role at a time when Milestone, via parent company Plaion, will be part of the new company formed from the current Embracer listing, referred to at the moment as “Middle-earth Enterprises & Friends”, and newly separate from the other predominantly racing studios (Bugbear and Rainbow Studios).

Luisa Bixio, CEO of Milestone, expressed her confidence in the new appointment, stating, “I am delighted to welcome Umberto to Milestone as our new General Manager. Along with this switch, the former Commerical Director for Games & Distribution at Plaion Italy, Luigi Colamusso, will become the new Country Manager, while Oscar Del Moral, former Managing Director for Spain & Portugal, will take on an expanded role as Head of Southern European Region.
It’s an interesting time for those with an interesty in the sim racing industry and what’s happening behind the scenes. We’re in the midst of global cutbacks throughout the gaming sector, there’s been ongoing drama with Motorsport Games and Fanatec, and the changes at Embracer, Plaion and Milestone could impact the future of titles including RIDE, Hot Wheels Unleashed, and the official MotoGP series.
