Euro Truck Sim 2 Goodyear Challenge Is Extended

Sometimes modern life can feel like it’s controlled by data and algorithms telling companies everything about us. So it’s nice when gamers can occasionally surprise development companies, especially when it means the Euro Truck Sim 2 Goodyear Challenge is extended until August 18th, 2019.

SCS Software originally launched a community challenge to celebrate the launch of their Goodyear Tyres Pack DLC (which costs £1.99 via Steam). The new content for Euro Truck Simulator 2 includes the latest KMAX GEN-2 and FUELMAX GEn-2 tyres, which offer better mileage, fuel-efficiency, and weather performance.

Plus you can add Goodyear paintjobs and accessories to your choice of truck, as it’s all officially licensed.

The ETS2 Goodyear Community Challenge:

So to celebrate, SCS set a challenge. The World of Trucks external contracts would feature long-distance in-game deliveries of Goodyear tyres using a branded trailer.

If you completed 10 or more Goodyear deliveries, you’d get a World of Trucks Achievement and a hanging Goodyear blimp cabin accessory.

And if the ETS 2 community achieved a total of 300,000 Goodyear deliveries, then anyone that had finished their personal goal would also get a Steam activation key to get the Goodyear Tyres Pack DLC for free.

Which was pretty awesome.

It’s not the biggest financial incentive, given that the DLC costs £1.99. But it fits perfectly with the game as a way to reward enthusiastic ETS2 fans.

And the proof is that 150,000 deliveries completed in less than 24 hours, and the 300,000 total completed in 2 days. So SCS originally let the chance to get the free DLC code run for an additional day.

But there were complaints from gamers who were busy or unable to take part given the short notice and very short eligibility period.

Fortunately SCS has since responded:

Euro Truck Sim 2 Goodyear Challenge Is Extended Until August 18th

The result is that you can still complete the personal challenge until 23:59UTC on Sunday, August 18th, which means you can get the World of Trucks Achievement and Goodyear Blimp.

And although you can’t win a free Steam activiation key, SCS has added a new Community Contest until the same deadline, for in-game screenshots of either your truck or cabin interior using the Goodyear Tyres Pack.

The top 5 picks will get a selection of goodies from the SCS e-shop of up to a value of 100 Euros, and the rules are:

• Tune-up your truck (and trailer optionally) using the Goodyear Tyres Pack DLC.
• Take an in-game screenshot – either of your truck (and trailer optionally) or inside the cabin of your truck featuring the new accessories.
• Use the vanilla game only (mods are not permitted this time).
• Share these screenshots either on your Twitter or Instagram profiles with the #GoodyearRollOut hashtag and tag Goodyear’s and our profiles. The direct links to these profiles are as follows.

So it’s a little bit of a shame that a number of people missed out on the free DLC due to work, family or other commitments. But at the same time, it’s great SCS has responded by allowing more players to potentially get the achievement and blimp, and to potentially enter and win up to 100 Euros worth of prizes.
