If you want to spend your work and sim racing time in an exclusive seat, then you may be interested in the new Recaro × Porsche Gaming Chair Limited Edition, which has launched at a premium price. And with just 911 units to tie in with the iconic Porsche model, it’s unlikely you’ll see many in offices or sim rigs.
Probably the key thing to note is that the new chair will cost you £1,499 including VAT. Which isn’t cheap, but it’s based on the existing Recaro Exo Platinum, which would usually cost you €1,249.00. So you’re paying less of a premium for the exclusive Porsche tweaks than you might have imagined.
The colour scheme has been designed by Studio F.A Porsche based on their motorsport cars and liveries, and you get an embroidered crest on the front of the headrest, with the Recaro name on the rear.
Other features are similar to the standard Recaro model, from the 5D armrests with aluminium support, the anti-submarining seat ramp, a huge amount of adjustability, and the ergonomic seat shell uising high quality upholstery foam and breathable fabrics. And it has a load capacity of up to 150kg.
One point to note is that the Recaro × Porsche Gaming Chair Limited Edition comes on copolymer-reinforced seat castors. Which is handy if you need to roll around the floor of an office. But not so good for sim racing, as you’ll end up moving back when you’re using the accelerator and brake pedals. So you’ll need to budget for something to stop you being wheeled backwards during a race, on top of the £1,499 chair price.
The Recaro × Porsche Gaming Chair Limited Edition is available directly from the Porsche shop. The standard Recaro range does start slightly lower, with the Rae Essentials chair starting at €599.00.
